Q: What's the best part of being an author?
A:  Being able to share with today's readers, as well as future generations, tales heard and details unearthed while researching a Mississippi river town, its big earthquake, American Indians, slavery, the Civil War and pioneers who made the westward trek in the 19th century.

Q: Will you write another book?
A: Writing keeps me young and keeps my mind active. Although it is hard work, I love it and yes, I have another book in the wings.

Q: What are some of your favorite books or books you would recommend?
A: For writers, or would-be writers, I would say read, read--every chance you get. Read in the genre you like. But expand your horizons and read other authors, too. For inspiration and fun, read Eudora Welty, my all-time favorite author.
